Digital Signing of Deeds Becomes Permanent

Digital Signing of Deeds Becomes Permanent

A recent amendment has been passed on Feb 10th 2022 to permit the electronic signing of documents including deeds, by companies. This means electronic execution of deeds by companies will be permitted on a permanent basis replacing the previous temporary changes. This follows suit with permanent changes passed in Queensland and Victoria.

Whilst this change is promising to increase ease and practically for clients and businesses, it is expected there may be some delays in this being applied by third parties.

Thus, Acis is undertaking extensive market research, engaging with banks, advisers, titles and state revenue offices, to confirm their positions and understand their intentions to include and allow digital document signing. Acis has made clear their goal to ensure clients can be confident, technically, and practically, that digitally signed deeds will be broadly accepted.
