“Our growth strategy is on track,” said Walker Wayland Australasia chair Grant Allsopp.
He said the Walker Wayland strategy of developing a community of like-minded firms to share resources and skills was paying dividends.
“Many professional service networks operate mainly to provide referral work to one another,” he said. “Our focus is on mutual support.
“Our clients now have access to the power of more than 100 leaders in the accounting profession on both sides of the Tasman Sea,” he said. “Member firms are uniquely equipped to deliver a range of services that are relevant to Australian, New Zealand and trans-Tasman business.”
Mr Allsopp said that Walker Wayland Australasia continued to receive expressions of interest from firms across the region.
“We are seeking like-minded firms who have resources and ideas to contribute to the profession and our community,” he said. “We are also focusing on specific areas where we believe our capabilities can assist local businesses, such as the growth corridor between Sydney and Brisbane as well as New Zealand’s south island.”
Mr Allsopp said the two new members add regional and industry-specific strengths to the network.
“Power Tynan, based in Toowoomba, is a significant presence west of Brisbane in Queensland with specialist skills in the mining industry. Kothes in the Bega/Eden region is the largest accounting firm in New South Wales south of Wollongong. They bring the unique insight of that community with its emphasis on agriculture and tourism.”
Walker Wayland Australasia now offers a range of membership options to reflect the differing needs of accounting firms across Australasia.
“We recognised that some smaller firms have a great deal to contribute without requiring all the services that full membership provides,” he said. “We now have specific packages for regional and boutique firms.”
Mr Allsopp said that the Walker Wayland Australasia network worked to lift the profile of the member firms through increased marketing and access to a broad base of shared resources.
“Member firms are also encouraged to participate in annual conferences during which staff develop their technical skills within a team environment,” he said.
He said that the group’s business structure offers clients the benefits of two worlds.
“We combine the high-level services of a Partner that you would expect from a mid-tier accounting firm with the reach and expertise of one of the Big Four firms,” he said.
“Our international network connections mean we offer a high level of technical knowledge, depth of experience and professional understanding in dealing with global as well as local conditions.”
Many of the firms in the network are also members of BKR International, a global association of independent accounting and business advisory firms representing the expertise of more than 135 member firms with over 300 offices in over 70 countries around the world.
